Here’s a quick guide and step by step admission procedure to help you through UPTU admissions:
Generally, AKTU/UPTU application form is issued in the month of January and is open until the first week of April. Application fee has to be submitted online and the application is Rs. 1300/- for male, transgender, general or OBC category students and Rs 650/- for female, PH, SC or ST category students.
Every year, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) prescribes the syllabus for each paper of UPSEE 2018. Generally, the exam is conducted in April end for UG & vocational courses and in the first week of May 2018 for PG courses.
All candidates who clear the examination are called for counselling on merit basis. This is organized through UPSEE online portal and the counselling usually comprises of 5 stages:
Stage 1- Online Registration
The candidates are required to register online for counselling. Registrations usually begin from the third week of June. During registration, candidates have to pay a counselling fee of Rs. 20000 (Rs. 12000 for SC/ST category) online that is later adjusted at the time of admission with the college fee.
Stage 2- Document Verification
Once the fee is paid, the candidates have to upload scanned copies of all documents/certificates with the maximum size of 200 KB/document. Candidate’s documents/certificates are then verified by Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University.
Stage 3- Online Choice Filling
Once the fee payment is updated at the NIC server of UPSEE 2018, the ‘Choice Filling & Locking’ link gets activated immediately on the login page. Candidates can fill their college and course preference within the specified period to avoid the system automatically filling up the choices for them.
Stage 4- Seat Allotment
Post choosing their preference, the students need to check the seat allotment result and download seat allotment letter for admission. The main metrics for seat allotment include UPSEE merit, availability of seats and the order of preference given for the courses by the candidate. Once the seat allotment is finalized, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University allows no change in the branch/institution.
Stage 5- Reporting
After the declaration of seat allotment result, candidates are required to report at the allotted college in a given time period. Candidate’s seats are automatically cancelled in case they fail to report at the allotted college during the given time. Post which, the seat is given to the next candidate.
After completion of the counselling process, candidates are required to report at the allotted college with a provisional allotment letter. At this stage, all the candidates are required to submit the remaining amount of fee along with two copies of relevant documents- original and self-attested photocopies. Paying the remaining admission fees is mandatory to confirm the seat and admission and avoid the allotment to another candidate.
Candidates have to upload the given documents/certificates at the time of UPSEE Counselling 2018:
- Class 10th Mark Sheet & Passing Certificate
- Class 12th Mark Sheet & Passing Certificate
- Category Certificate
- Sub-Category Certificate
- UPSEE 2018 Admit Card
- UPSEE 2018 Rank Card
- Domicile Certificate

In case, the candidate fails to get their preferred choice seat in the first go, they have to appear in the second round of counselling. And if they are able to get a seat in the later rounds, then the earlier seat automatically gets cancelled.
Here’s wishing you the best of luck for your admission in UPSEE.
